Zauberer
Harry w/ Colleen during a Jim Kofford Clinic. I had surgery on both hands this fall so, Colleen has totally taken over riding Harry five days a week and his progress has catapulted! Now, in December, I am starting again by taking lunging lessons and will get back to riding gradually. It's going to be a big step, not only for not riding in over four months, but Harry is so much more powerful and moves so much 'bigger', that it's going to take some real effort on my part to get used to all that power!
I take several lessons a week and Colleen tries to ride Harry at least once a week to make sure he stays 'tuned up' properly. I am finally able to get him 'round, forward and on the bit' all at the same time without her barking at me every step of the way. Colleen insists that I am 'getting it'. This Spring I was able to show without being too nervous at horse shows which was a major accomplishment, but I wasn't really ready to be competing at 1st Level, so more practice at home before returning to the ring at 1st level! Dressage continues to be the most humbling sport of all time! Peso's Little Daisey
I started working with a new Dressage trainer, Colleen Gray, in June 2006 and we came a long way, thanks to Colleen's patience and diligence! The photo above was from my very first dressage test and I had a blast. I didn't embarrass myself, Colleen or Daisey! I relaxed a little during my second test and we did much better than the first. Improved my score on the second and ended up placing third. I was thrilled. Due to Daisey hurting herself in the fall of 2006, she can't be shown anymore, but she's still a great pet. Since the acquisition of the two miniature donkeys, we built a barn and Daisey moved home. Sleepy is pictured below and our new barn with Daisey and Sleepy in the aisle and Dreamer outside. I keep the doors and stalls open so they can all come and go as they please. Daisey loves her relaxed atmosphere and 'her girls', who she likes to boss around!
